David Muhammad

With more than two decades of experience in the construction industry, Muhammad founded Genesus One Enterprise Construction in 1999 after studying Construction Management at New York University. Through his work as a contractor, he recognized a critical gap in access to skilled trade training and union career opportunities for many young people and minority workers.

In response, Muhammad established GCTC to provide structured, hands-on training programs that prepare participants for careers in carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other skilled trades. The center integrates industry-recognized certifications such as OSHA safety training and NCCER craft curricula with practical construction experience.

Muhammad is also a leader in advancing workforce equity within the construction industry. Through his work with the Empowered Construction Workers & Contractors Association, he advocates for expanded access to apprenticeship programs, fair employment opportunities, and sustainable career pathways that allow workers to qualify for benefits, and long-term economic stability.

Under his leadership, GCTC has partnered with workforce agencies, contractors, and community organizations to train and place participants into construction careers while supporting broader community development initiatives, including neighborhood revitalization projects.
